Let's kick-start new urban community farms together

We want to actively initiate the creation of new urban community farms and gardens.

We want to use our experience and contacts in the field of urban farming and provide the opportunity for active citizens in other parts of Prague to also get involved in the production of their food.

How to do it?

New Prague community farms and gardens

How to set up

  • • It is important to select and arrange a suitable plot of land.
  • • Then you need to reach out to local partners and start connecting future growers, breeders, organizers, buyers of farm products
  • • If you are interested, we can get in touch and will be happy to pass on our experience, contacts and know-how

More diverse farms tend to be more stable

Individual fields

The best way to strengthen your relationship with land, landscape and food is to try farming your own piece of land. In our case, organically, of course.

A communal field

A place that connects you with other members of the farm, a place to work together, learn and meet. Make new relationships and friendships, share knowledge and experience and of course share the harvest.

Livestock

Even a small community is able to look after small poultry all year round. Sheep, goats or cows can also be added. Animals will not only keep you company in the fields and enliven your stay on the farm, but they will also be a valuable source of fertiliser and welcome helpers. If you choose, they can also be a source of eggs, milk, meat, wool, leather, etc.

Common elements

It makes sense to share stuff, it will save you time and money. For example, you will appreciate sharing compost, tools and farming equipment, a toilet, a fireplace, etc.

Nature

Farm space does not only benefit people, but also the nature. We strive for as much biodiversity as possible, building shelters and habitats for wild insects, birds, small mammals, reptiles and plants.

Why strive to create more urban community farms and gardens? What is in it for us?

• Gaining lost knowledge and skills on how to grow our own food • Securing more fresh local food • Being more self-sufficient • Making the agricultural landscape more diverse and its ecosystems more resilient • Meeting like-minded people, forging new relationships and friendships • Strengthening our bodies relaxing out minds while working in the fields
